Dr. Thunder + Mentos = 10 second fun!

Santa was kind enough to bring Zack a Mentos experiment. He slipped it into his stocking when Zack was fast asleep.

Zack has been soooo patiently waiting for the right moment to experiment. But first, he needed some soda. One day while shopping, we purchased a soda bottle only to come home and find, in the directions of all places, that we needed a 2 liter soda, not a 12 oz. Darn.

Today was the day! Mike picked up a 2 liter soda and the fun began. The kids ran out to the park and put it all together. Here are the results. I think the title gave it too much credit. It was really only about 5 seconds of fun. I wouldn't be surprised if the boy comes around again soon asking for another kit.

You're supposed to use Diet Coke, silly!

Dr. Thunder diet was all we could find in the cheap isle. I couldn't stand the thought of wasting a whole $1 on such a short-term thrill!

About Brand New Year...last years video was way cheesier it was HS musical 3 is what some lovingly refferred to it as. This one is not so bad and broken up into smaller portions-we kind of went with the guidleines church hdqtrs. had given us last year to make it an activity surrounding the video. It is like a one day winter youth conference for us. We start out with a service project (this year was a SUPER FUn scavenger hunt), then we have dinner, then we play some games, and then we watched the intro to the DVD, then we had a dance and the 12-13 yr. olds went to the stake presidents home to play more games. We tried to simplify it this year..but he youth seemed like they really wanted to do it all again..so I think making activities aroundt eh video makes it seem more like a big deal and they look forward to it more. We are going to show the rest of the sections once a month in the YW lessons-we inlcuded it in the lesson schedule-they are only abt.10-20 minutes! Does this help? Good luck!

Chelle, I'm trying to remember who occasionally runs their store brand 2 ltr sodas on sale for only $.59! I bought some so the grandkids would leave my diet cans alone, but alas, they'd rather have the cans. Anyway, I'll keep my eyes open for it ~ it's either HEB or Kroger. Looks like fun ~ next time, video it for all of us. Love ya.
