1. You accumulate A LOT more than you think; things you haven’t used in years and things that you will probably not need… ever. I can’t believe the amount of living paraphernalia we’ve collected in the past 5 years. We’ve down-sized a bit with one less bedroom now so it’s challenging to find a new place for things such as my sewing and craft supplies.
2. You may realize you’re not as young and strong as you once were. Oh my goodness, my back!! Just the bending over and twisting motions to pack did a number on me. I ached all over for days.
3. There will ALWAYS be a hiccup of some sort in the process; somewhere before, after or in between the showings, inspection, appraisal, negotiations, moving truck, you name it. There will be a pause in the process that will inevitably provide you with yet another gray hair.
4. Your teenage kids will be somewhat excited about the relocation, but getting them to actually help with the move is a whole different story. Just be prepared to be nagger of the year.
5. You will receive a ding on a door or wall sometime in the process. Don’t fret. It’s probably nothing a little dab of paint can’t fix, and then once it’s happened, you can relax and move on.
We are very excited to announce our move to 3702 Mustang Ln, Manvel, Texas 77578.
Some of you may be confused because several months back we purchased some property with the intentions of building on it. After much contemplation and research, we decided that this was not the best plan of action for us. For a while, Mike had been eye-balling a particular style home nearby and recently, just like it was meant to be, we found one that was on an inventory list and highly discounted. It was good timing. We sold our house faster than we had imagined and everything started to fall into place. Our property is now on the market as well, for any of you locals that feel so inspired to purchase.
Our new home consists of one less bed-craft-guest-room but now has 3 full bathrooms so the boys will share one and Maddie will have one of her own. Therefore, she will be the one booted from her lovely bedroom as guests arrive. Mike and I compromised so he got a super large barn garage for all his toys and tools, I got a bigger-than-I-need kitchen with beautiful upgrades and we share the theater room. Not sure if he knows we share this room, but I figure he would be awfully lonely watching movies by himself. And it's a single story so it will be much easier to keep clean... right?!
The one and only negative I can thing of is that we had to leave our ward family of 5 years. Granted, we are not too far away from our dear friends, but we will not be seeing them every week at church. I have a tender spot for the members of the Pearland ward, but hope to be able to build lasting friendships in our new ward as well. So far we have been very impressed with their welcome committee. The organization of this ward exceeds my expectations.
We are excited to be here and hope to make many sweet memories in our new home.
