Birthday weekend

Whew! Don't know where to start.

First of all, I would like to just say that I really thought I was going to go crazy. No updates on any of my favorite blogs this weekend and I was getting frustrated! I live for this stuff people! I checked them out again this evening and finally... a couple of new updates! I'm whole again.

Where do I start? Friday was my big day. I had a great birthday. After opening gifts and singing a little birthday tune, I sent the kids off to school and Mike to the office. (I did score a few homemade birthday cards, a homemade bracelet, a unique boat/hat and a really cool watch.) I was so enjoying the quiet morning but it didn't take long before I realized I was actually getting kinda lonely. I got dressed for the day and headed out to run errands and do a little shopping (with my birthday money from the in-laws!) Still lonely. Came home to clean a little house. Still lonely. I had to call a few people to give them the opportunity to wish me a happy birthday! Finally, the kids came home, then Mike and I was happy again. We did the candle and cake thing with that beautiful cake I received on Wednesday, then the kids headed off to spend the weekend with their mom and nana.

Mike wanted to do something fun and spontaneous, so he came home with a Harley! (Thanks Brad!!) We decked out in our jeans and helmets for a night out on the town. Vroom, vroom! We headed out to Kemah for some yummy Saltgrass. (Oh the heavenly coconut shrimp!) When we got there we immediately saw the new roller coaster they built. Wow, it looked fun. We walked over to check it out and played with the idea of actually riding it. There we had run into some friends who just happened to have two extra tickets. Ok, there was no backing out now. Can I just say that was the FASTEST, CRAZIEST roller coaster I have ever been on. Mike and I are still suffering from whiplash and heart palpitations and probably will for weeks. We don't know if we suffer so because we are getting up there in age or if it really was a scary roller coaster! I'm including a pic but they don't do it justice. Man, it was a trip!

The next morning we went out for a day trip on the Harley. It was really fun, but I don't think it's in our immediate plans to purchase. The Wild Hogs will just have to party without us. We are so lame... we ended up running errands on the Harley. When it looked like rain we headed back to return the big bad bike. What a fun day! That evening we completed the awning for our kitchen window and watched a movie on the big screen. The kids came home after having a fun weekend.

Today was a very special day for Maddie! She was baptized! She looked just beautiful all dressed in white. The program went well and she and Hannah (also getting baptized) sang When I Am Baptized. It was the sweetest thing. Mike's parents, the kids mom, nana and even my mom and sister (with nieces and nephew) came to support the special event. It was a great get together!

So many more pictures I could add, so little time. I should have been updating entries throughout the weekend as I'm sure I've forgotten some special moments. I'm happy to be 35 with a healthy body, a loving family, immediate and extended, and blessings galore!

Tomorrow is October 1st... the beginning of Mike's birthday month!

wow! your kitchen look s great, i am so serious when i say that we are going to have to (eventually) take a trip to see you guys (and the rest of the family...don't you like how i've categorized that one?)....it looks like you had some much fun with the harley, i'm curious to know how much it is to rent one for a few days, brook would love something like that as a gift, since buying one is entirely out of the question....sigh...but that one is just for brook. :)
HAPPY (blelated) BIRTHDAY....it seems as though you've had plenty of fun for it though...
