First things first... my veggie garden! I'd like to reiterate that Graham really has taken over the thing and is so good at it. I did work about 4 hours on the first day when I shoveled the top layer off and tilled the top soil (clay or sand, whichever you want to call it) and spread the added top soil. The first picture is the before picture. Don't look at the rest of the yard... we were too cheap to sod the backyard when we moved in! The first picture is of me and the position that I kept most of the day. I'm such a doofus... the next day I had a killer backache AND a killer sunburn right on the lower of my back where my shirt was too short and my pants were too low. What a pain!

Look at it now! Our broccoli to the right is really growing like crazy. Too bad it's Mike's least favorite thing in the whole world. We've got a few tomatoes, peppers, beans, spinach and our broccoli. My seeded tomatoes, lettuce and onions are not going too well this time. This is my first so it's a learning experience.

So the craziest thing happened the other day. Mike and I started out for a walk around the subdivision and got about a block before we noticed a huge pile of dirt and flowers that had been pulled from the model homes. We ran in to the model and asked if we could try to save the poor flowers and we got the go ahead. The kids were so excited and even a few of the neighbor kids all piled flowers into Walmart bags and carried them over to our house. We placed them into our flower beds and had the most perfect looking landscaping for a couple of days (until they wither and die because of the clay and sand I previously spoke of.) But it was so fun while it lasted!! Did I mention we are cheap!?
