Fashion Statement

Really it all started on Thanksgiving day. In just half an hour, were going to walk out the door to head down to Lake Jackson for the most looked forward to lunch of the year. When all of the sudden I looked at the mirror and exclaimed to myself, "I need a change!" I slipped out the door and headed out to Walgreens where I purchased a box of hair coloring. At times I demonstrate my mother's ability to overestimate what I can do in a short amount of time. I've always been curious about darkening my hair and finally did it. We were late for lunch but I looked fantastic and felt like a million bucks.

A little over a month ago, New Year's Eve to be exact, I was looking in the mirror (I'm seeing a pattern here) and decided that my hair was looking a little faded. My Mike really likes my blonde hair so I thought I would surprise him with a new do. (He and the boys were camping.) I remembered that I had a highlighting kit in my bathroom cabinet. Well after it was all said and done, I did in fact, have a new do. Just not the one I had always dreamed of. I did a little number on my hair called orange-ish blah.

I've not been happy with it since so last night was the last straw. I booked an appointment to have it done... the real way. I knew it would cost me an arm and leg but I had to do what I had to do. So this morning we hopped up and headed out. We as in me and Mike. I guess he thought this would be a good opportunity to shop unsupervised as the hair salon was in the mall.

Well, those people hooked me up! I look fantastic if I do say so myself. Except for that last picture makes my face look elongated like a horse. Neigh! I guess that's really how I look?
Mike did in fact go shopping... unsupervised... and as he does more often then not, he found a steal of a deal. He has been wanting a waterproof camera for years now and found one that he just couldn't pass up. I'm quite happy 'cause now I get his old one which is not so old. SCORE!

So today, in the mall, he was like a kid in a candy store taking pictures of everything. I think he was on cloud nine due to his find that he didn't even notice that it was really my SPA day. After I got my hair colored (repaired) and cut, we had a delish lunch and then I found Threading. Yea, I know... I didn't know what the heck it was either. But it is way cool. It is a technique of hair removal that has apparently been around for ages. Gone with the days of painful waxing! Here are a few pictures that I guess Mike felt were a must. Really, if you suffer from lady beard and mustache, you should check it out! It stings a little but there is a lot less redness and it was cheaper. Google "threading versus waxing." It's way cool.
Ok, so from these pictures you really can't see any threading going on and it just looks like I was napping in the mall.
We roamed a little longer, found some karaoke CDs for 27 cents, ate a sinful cheesecake/chocolate muffin (FOR YOU, KRANTZ) and decided we should call it quits while the gettin' was good. Mike had even found a parking space that was right up front... on a Saturday. I tell ya, luck was on our side.
This whole weekend has started out just right. The kids got picked up for a night with their mom and that's always nice to have some date time. Mike and I decided to head out to BJ's in the convertible since it was such a nice night. Well, the convertible does something funny to us. It causes us to burst out in song. Any song we know more than 3 words to. Last night it was "Your Beautiful" by James Blunt. And boy, were we singing... loud. Then after the song is over, we come back from oblivious lala land and have to look around to make sure there is no one staring at us. Just after our debut, we drove past some friends from church. Whew, that was close. After a quick chit chat via open windows we convinced them to meet us at BJ's for some enlightening conversation. Man, it was fun. The four of us walked over to Barnes and Noble for some book and magazine brousing. What a fantastic and spontaneous night for us!
I'm hoping to see my family this weekend. That would just be icing on the cake!

Your hair does look good! I'm jealous. And the threading...let me know how it works because you do remember that your sister (me) is the actual bearded lady, right?

Love the blond again. Nothing beats a professional blond dye job. You just can't do it like that at home. Chris is just begging me to go blond...I told him I need a few more grays first. Anyway thanks for the muffin...I really needed that and you are too cute for doing it for me. So I thought of you, I'm considering doing a marathon...considering it again....are you running again?
