What would this home be without another garden?! Only this year, a strip garden seemed to work better for us. I thought it would be easier access, easier for the mowers to mow around, and our back yard is very unlevel so positioning the garden here would allow for good drainage. No big changes in the items we planted, however this year I did add a couple of asparagus plants for fun.

We added a couple of drainage pipes for good measure.

No idea if these fruit trees will make it, but they were purchased for a sweet deal and we are very excited about the prospects of having fruit trees mature in a couple of years. Wouldn't that be so cool?? So my thought is if an apple tree and a peach tree can't make it in south Texas then why the heck are hundreds of them sold at our local nursery? Answer me that. At least I'm pretty sure our grapefruit won't disappoint.

I'm so jealous of your garden area. You do know, however, that asparagus takes about 3 years before it produces. That's why it's so expensive ~ but, hey, it's worth it. I'm excited to see what the apple tree does. My neighbor's apple tree is already loaded with small fruit. Very proud of your efforts!
