Swimming

As if gymnastics, choir, church activies and keeping grades up isn't enough, Maddie wanted to try her hand at the swim team at school. She had basic lessons years ago but has never swam competively so this was new and exciting to her. And maybe a bit nerve wracking.

She has a lot to learn and is feeling aches in muscles she never knew she had but she is being a real trooper. They have practice after school 4 days in a row and have already had their first meet. This one was called a Splash meet and they were all encouraged to participate in as many different events as possible. I suppose so that they could see what they liked and what they were especially good in. Maddie attempted a relay in free style, back stroke and butterfly. She had a really great time and Mike and I were impressed with her desire and motivation.

I'm excited for her and think it will be a great experience, but with mixed emotions. I know there is a point where it can all be too much. We will have to prioritize and make sure she is accomplishing things in moderation. On the other hand, I think this will help her learn better time management and form healthier eating habits as well.

As always, we are proud of our Maddie girl and her accomplishments.
