Weekend!

The kids left for San Antonio with their mom and nana Friday for a late summer vacation. They had a great time and made it home just today safe and sound.

I took advantage of not having to be home when the bus unloaded the kids and took off to Lake Jackson. Spending the day with my mom was long overdue. She's always been such a natural with cooking so I thought I'd learn the tricks of the trade from the real pro. We made homemade wheat bread, yeast rolls, pretzels all from scratch! I'm so easily entertained! And it only took 30 something years to learn. I came home at dusk to find Mike finishing up the mowing and edging. Such a good man!

We had a great weekend! Friday night, Ruby Chinese was calling our names... again, so we shared our Tso Chicken and topped off the night with chocolate cake, of course. Did I mention I was taking a break from Weight Watchers this weekend? We rented Blades of Glory. Pretty funny! Thanks to the new Clearplay DVD player we've been introduced to a whole new array of movies. Saturday we got up and got to work cleaning out the storage building out back. We've only been here a year, how'd it get so messy so fast?! After that I tended to the power washing of the Jeep and driveway while Mike was using a little elbow grease on the catamaran. When I was done I went back to see if I could be of assistance. After a little elbow grease of my own, Mike mentioned that it felt like it was about to rain. Immediately after I said "Nah" well... it started to rain. Hard! We gathered all our gear, quickly, and headed back inside. Guess our work was done for the day! By the time we got all cleaned up it was time to clean up and eat. Eating is what we do best. Chili's was calling our name Saturday night. Those Southwestern Eggrolls are to die for! We rented yet another video (watching movies is what we do second best) in the comfort of our own home. Mike has introduced me to the world of the home theater and it's never been funner... and cheaper! We were up early for church meetings and took advantage of our afternoon Sunday siesta before the kids came home.

Rain will put a damper on Laber Day tomorrow so we'll probably stick around here. Hope you all have a great holiday!
