On Tuesday, we headed out and up to Mt Hood. There was more snow there than I had ever imagined. I loved that the kids were able to experience that. Seeing snow flakes falling from the sky is just, well, magical. No matter how many times I've witnessed it, it's still awe inspiring. It's a miracle that the kids have had the wimpy snow two or three times in their life here in Texas, but it doesn't compare really to what we saw up in the mountain.
We found our hotel quite easily and they were kind enough to let us into the room early. We quickly donned our ski apparel and headed out to find the Ski Bowl. I know, I know, you are envying the pink ski jacket. Well, it came in mighty handy. As I came down the slope, Mike could always find me a mile away. (If you're out there reading, Suzanna, we owe you big time for hooking us up with the outstanding ski gear.) We had decided early on that the kids should have lessons and I'm so glad we did. Mike and I were a bit rusty ourselves, let alone try to teach it! During the first part of their lesson, Mike and I headed up the lift and took our first trip down. And I only biffed it once. What fun it was! I believe I had way more fun skiing this time around than I ever did in college. Not sure why.
After the lessons we were all beat and it was just noon! We headed back to the hotel to eat (Huckleberry restaurant, yum!), dry off and rest before taking another stab at it. I will not elaborate on the alternate personality that Maddie awoke from her nap with. Suffice to say, she did not ski again. Zack however, took flight. He ended up going down the mountain 3 times! We stayed until 9ish and I must say that night skiing is just as magical, if not more.

The next morning we dragged ourselves out of bed for breakfast. Not even aches and pain will stop us from a FREE hot meal! Here's a picture of Zack out in the snow. Apparently his hot chocolate was too hot. How convenient that there was so much snow around to cool it off!
