Secret Fort

I remember many moons ago, my childhood friend, Mindi, and I would spend hours in the ditches by our houses. We would explore, make mud pies, ride bikes barefooted around the neighborhood. Fond memories that will always stay with me!

With the age of video games, computers, and perverts, I fear that the kids these days have no idea what it really feels like to take advantage of the outdoors. I mean REALLY take advantage of it.

A few weeks ago Graham and Zack went through a phase of heading outside on their bikes everyday after school. They would head out to the "forest" (actually a patch of trees behind our water retention pond and inbetween subdivisions) and be gone for what seemed like hours. My heart would sing! They are making memories I would say to myself. I suppose we felt comfortable with them being gone so long because Graham had his cell with him. Sad, I know.

Sunday we went on a family bike ride after church. The weather was perfect and we thought a nice leisurely ride would do us some good. Keep us off the TV and computers for a while. The boys wanted to show us the "forest" and their fort. Fort?!
Ahhh! Music. I loved it! I felt like a kid again.
