Recorder Karate

Throughout the weeks, Maddie has been earnestly working on her Recorder Karate goals. Fourth grade is the exciting year of purchasing and playing the recorder. As an incentive, the music teacher gave the students opportunties to progress on the recorder, earning different color "belts" which was a string of yarn that they tied to the end of their case. Maddie worked hard and finally received the highest honor, her black "belt." We are very proud of her enthusiasm and tenacity.

To celebrate, the school had a performance last night and the students were able to show off their accomplishments. I had to work so I missed the fun, but Mike and Zack were able to go and support her. They played several songs and after each song, the students who had a higher level "belt" stayed for the next song while the others were dismissed from the stage. Maddie was able to stay on stage for the entire program!
Someday Maddie wants to be a professional singer/rock star. Surely successfully completing Recorder Karate will do wonders for her resume!!
