It's just Zack and Maddie that do it as Graham has diligently left for seminary almost 2 hours ago. In the early days, before I got lazy, I would get up with the kids and make a healthy breakfast. When it was time to catch the bus, I'd go through the routine of asking if they grabbed their lunch or instrument or if they got all of their papers signed. Yes, yes, yes.
Now days it's just condensed into those four little requests and we have an understanding. "Have fun, learn lots, get good grades, be safe!" And many mornings I can accomplish this from the comfort of the couch, under the warm blankets. (I still try to make healthy breakfasts every chance I get!)
Ahhhhh, the beauty of having older, more responsible kiddos.

I'm impressed with your title! It reminds me of the farewell from one of the programs on the classical station, "Be well, do good work and keep in touch." That pretty much covers everything. I too love it when a plan comes together ~ when you plan on handing off little relay torches to your children as they celebrate more birthdays and become more responsible. The guilt from staying under the covers longer will ease up eventually and you'll be able to congratulate yourself on the preparation and training you've done because you've earned it.
Oh Mom. You're not biased or anything. I SO look forward to all of your compliments! I can almost alway expect one... no pressure.
