Wisdom teeth... gone!

I remember back in the day when I had my wisdom teeth removed. Well, I remember that I had it done. I believe I was in high school and my mom kept me so doped up on pain relievers for days that I don't remember what was real and what was a dream. I remember visitors that never came, and never recalling real visitors. I healed magically with little to no discomfort. Thanks Mom!

A couple of Saturdays ago, Graham braved the same experience. He was a trooper. The anesthetics made him a bit emotional and sick but he recovered in a few hours with minimum pain and swelling. As a big meat eater, he tolerated as much pudding, broth, jello and mashed potatoes as possible. Three days later he was back to solids and work.

Close friends know that our boys are sensitive. All three have managed to pass out during eye exams and two out of three have passed out at the dentist. Needless to say, during this trip, both Mike and Graham were especially appreciative of my nursing background and my tolerance to the yucky stuff. It was fun being in charge and dolling out medication, soft foods and ice packs. On day three I returned home from work to find Cheesecake Factory leftovers in the fridge. Graham made his way to the restaurant and back for lunch. With that discovery, I lovingly retired my motherly pamperings and told the boy he was on his own. He was healed! I look forward to assisting the next victim patient some time in the future.
